This tree has a short stocking of persistent, finely fibrous, grey bark at the base of the trunk and a long, straight shaft-like bole, covered by smooth, powdery, white bark. The crown is moderately dense, with leaves which are glossy green on the upper surface, paler beneath. Rose gums grow very rapidly on good sites (up to 2-3 m per year). For best performance requires deep free-draining soils; Min rainfall: 700mm
