Fast growing tree (6-15m tall). Short trunk with smooth grey bark, shedding in strips to reveal a fresh, brown-pink bark. Rounded, dense, spreading crown which is retained to near ground level. Leaves are thick, glossy olive green. White – cream flowers appear September to January. Drought tolerant and moderately frost tolerant. Tolerates alkaline soils. Semi salt tolerant. Used for ornamental, windbreaks, shelterbelts. Good pollen and nectar production. Often grows in pure stands on heavy clay soils in loamy flats or moist depressions.; Min rainfall: 350mm
